All your questions answered.
Do I need to be flexible and fit?
As long as you have a body and can breathe, you can do yoga. We focus on mobility and range of motion to create strong and healthy movement. You do not need to be flexible. In fact, the more stiff you are, the more you can benefit from my classes.
The movement sequences follow the principle of step-by-step progression. This makes the class easy to follow even if it is your first time. I will guide you to work at your own limits so that you choose the intensity of your practice.
How can movement and breath benefit me?
My goal as a teacher is to guide you in learning to trust yourself. In my classes you will be guided in practices designed to increase your sensitivity and discover ways to nourish yourself. You will learn skills and tools to respond to your need for rest, rejuvenation, and peacefulness in daily life.
As you develop your practice over time you will become more sensitive to the logic in your movement and the effects of stress on your nervous system. The result is a stronger and more capable body ready to move through the world with more confidence and joy of movement.
What is mindfulness?
To practice mindfulnless means that we give our full attention to whatever we are doing in the moment. That can be stretching, breathing, creating art, jogging, or eating. Anything at all that you can give your full attention to in the moment can become a mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness practices are shown to relieve the toxic effects of stress, improve sleep, and reduce depression and fatigue. We approach the practice with an attitude of curiosity and kindness. Our goal together is to build non-judgemental self-awareness.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat and equipment?
You do not need to bring your own mat. You can borrow a mat and have use of any other props. Though, I do recommend to have your own mat if you are practicing regularly.
For your home practice I recommend to have 3 blankets.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, soft clothing which can stretch with your movement. Bring a warm cardigan or jumper for resting.
Is there a changing room and shower?
This depends on the location. All locations have a private changing area.
Is there a safe place to store my belongings?
Your belongings are kept safe in the practice room.
